Carbon Capture & Storage

PetroSource affiliate, PSCO2, L.P., manages and operates the CO2 capture, compression and transportation business. PSCO2 effectively captures much of the vent CO2 from gas processing plants as shown. This activity significantly reduces CO2 emissions from these plants and provides CO2 volumes for injection into CO2-EOR projects. 

PSCO2 currently operates more than 200 miles of CO2 pipelines (shown in PSEC Pipeline Mapgreen) and more than 46,000 HP of compression.  The pipelines gather the CO2 from the vent stacks and transport it for delivery directly into producing fields, or into the existing CO2 pipeline infrastructure.  Following compression, the CO2 is transported as a liquid at approximately 2000 psi.


Compressor / PipelineToday PetroSource is capturing nearly 2,000,000 tons (90MMCFPD) of CO2 annually from existing operations in the southern Permian Basin. PetroSource is currently pursuing various aspects of CO2 management both in the Permian and in other areas of the country including:

  • Plant Gate Operator for Capture
  • Transportation and Storage Management
  • CO2 Demand Reliability
  • Linking EOR with CO2 Storage Requirements
